Louisa Winthrop is an experienced psychotherapist who has been helping individuals heal and move forward from trauma and other life challenges for more than 25 years. She earned her BA in Psychology from Duke University and her MSW from Boston University.
Louisa’s warm, empathic approach creates a safe space where clients are able tap into their inner wisdom and courage. She collaborates with her clients to find solutions to problems many face in life: moving on from a difficult relationship; changing career path or direction; dealing with grief and loss; and healing from trauma, as well as the depression and anxiety that can follow.
Having worked with survivors of domestic violence for many years, Louisa has a great deal of experience in helping people heal from trauma and PTSD. She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and has found this to be a particularly successful method to help clients heal from trauma.
Louisa has additional training in:
· Mindfulness and Meditation
· Yoga for Anxiety and Depression, including chair yoga poses
· Guided Imagery
· Emotional Freedom Technique (EFTA or “Tapping”)
